Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic(s)

General Responsibilities:

 

A.L. Boeck & Co. has  exciting and rewarding career opportunities in the Boerne, San Antonio, New Braunfels, San Marcos, Seguin, Kyle, Buda, Austin, TX areas for a Field Service Mechanic(s). Position requires applicants to repair and maintain a variety of complex equipment, tools, and vehicles involving mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and electrical systems. Service is primarily performed at customer locations. You will be operating from a fully-rigged service truck and will be required to concentrate on the job at hand!

  • Must be able to perform a variety of skilled duties which may involve inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on heavy equipment
  • Service equipment as required to ensure proper operating condition at the job site
  • Must be able to operate equipment such as booms, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulic and electrical tools and equipment, and all related tools and equipment
  • Satisfy in a timely manner all required documentation, timesheets, checklists, mileage logs, purchase orders, and receipts
  • Clean work vehicle and work area as necessary to maintain a safe work environment
  • Meet all company, governmental and equipment related safety requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or authorized personnel

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical problems and successfully repair the equipment.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices
  • Requires the ability to lift, push or pull and move up to 70 pounds and must be capable of climbing, kneeling, twisting and bending in a varied environment
  • Must be dependable and report to work on time; personal phone calls in emergency only!
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and yard personnel
  • Must exhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment safety
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must maintain satisfactory driving record at all times!
  • A valid driver’s license
  • 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment/diesel mechanic, preferably in the field
  • Provide own tools and possess ability to safely and effectively use them
  • Must be able to perform basic computer operations
  • Must understand and speak fluent English!

 

HEAVY EQUIPMENT DIAGNOSTIC SPECIALIST

Work involves diagnosing problems with a variety of complex heavy equipment, tools, and vehicles. Problems involve mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and electrical systems. Service is primarily performed at customer locations out of a company truck.

Mandatory Requirements:
-Minimum of *10 years of experience* diagnosing problems on various heavy equipment!  (Your knowledge/skills will be put to the test)
-Experience troubleshooting heavy equipment using basic process of elimination, diagnostic software, voltmeter, pressure gauges, flow meters, and other diagnostic tools.
-Must be dependable and report to work on time.
-Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and yard personnel. (Understand, speak, write, and type in fluent English!)
-Must exhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding or equipment safety.
-Provide own tools and possess ability to use them effectively.  (Company will provide specialty diagnostic tools)

Examples of Work Performed / Daily Responsibilities:
-Inspects machinery and equipment to identify need for repair work.
-Document machine information (make, model, serial #, equipment #, odo/hrs, etc)
-Draw up an estimate of time and parts required to repair vehicles/equipment.
-Coordinate with office personnel to order necessary parts.
-Design and build special tools and parts as needed for repair work.
-Maintain accurate time and mileage records.
-These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other related duties will be assigned as needed.
